Can we expunge' northerners, southerners, from Nigerian lexicon

National affability has much to do with what we think of one another; how we talk to one another, and what we call one another. as nugatory as this may appear to be, the content of our dialogue and multilogue - caustic and vile - in our cocoons and social media and interaction with others Nigerians escalte recriminations and deepen stereotypes and contorted perceptions.

Bala get a raw deal from Emeka, and he gear into pejorative, " southerners are dishonest' "Tunde's relationship with Dahiru hits the nadir, and he goes, "Northerners are vicious' in these instances, "Northerners and southerners' 'have become offender's vicariously in transaction between individuals.

The sectional tags - northerners and southerners' 'are subliminal stereotypes that we have come to normalize. Although the tags should ordinary be for the geographical taxonomy of where a citizen be come from, in the case of Nigeria this meaning has been invented. Calling a Nigerian' " northerners or southerners" is often suffused with innuendos, an a form of labeling.

Tags can be unfading for their power to hang on subconsciously it become reflexives to throttle into the northerners/southerners are like tropes. We must be conscious of potency of tags and do well to keep are conversation and interaction benign. Little annoyances stoke the tension.

What ever doesn't amplify the unity of Nigeria ossifies, disharmony; so, should be discarded
