MCT APPLAUDS CAC ONLINE TV INITIATIVE* *--Says it will Promote ARISE Agenda

Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has applauded the Online TV initiative of the Council for Arts and Culture, CAC, emphasizing that it will promote the ARISE Agenda.



The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Grace Akpan made this known recently in Uyo, during a courtesy call on her by the management and Union leaders of the Council of Arts and Culture, CAC, led by the Director of the Council, Dr. Unwana Joshua.



The Tourism Permanent Secretary said, ARISE Agenda is the road map for all the development plans of government therefore she will support any initiative geared at giving a spotlight on any aspect of the development blueprint.



She therefore applauded the Council for Arts and Culture, CAC, for the foresight in developing a CAC-TV geared at beaming Akwa Ibom State to the world, particularly the cultural heritage of the people as showcased by the performing Art department of the Council.


Mrs. Grace Akpan expressed optimism that, the CAC-TV will beam limelight on the achievements of the different planks of ARISE Agenda, especially the Tourism sector, towards showcasing the rich Tourism potentials of the State to tourists and for exports.


The Permanent Secretary therefore endorsed the AK CAC-TV to the glory of God and benefit of humanity and urged the TV crew to ensure close scrutiny of all clips put out to global viewership to ensure that they align with online media code of practice. 


While expressing gratitude to the leadership of the Council for the excellent service delivered at just concluded Christmas unplugged 2.0, she urged the Council to continue with its good work of promoting the cultural heritage of the state through their dances, songs, Arts exhibition and other performances.


Earlier, the Director, Akwa Ibom State Council for Arts and Culture, Dr. Unwana Joshua, said the visit was to introduce the management and Union leaders of CAC to the Permanent Secretary and also the TV crew that had worked tirelessly towards opening a Facebook page for the Council to post all its productions on performances by the different troupes and other cultural activities of the State.


Dr. Unwana Joshua who listed the achievements of the Council under his watch, expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for her continued support to the Council and solicited her endorsement for the CAC-TV, to enable them put out their video clips on their Facebook page.


He stressed that AKS CAC TV has come to stay as an online TV which will showcase the cultural heritage and tourism potentials of Akwa Ibom State to the global community and intimated the Permanent Secretary that, other government officials have been listed for support and endorsement of the initiative.


In a vote of thanks, the Head of Performing Art, Mrs. Abigail Akpakip lauded the Permanent Secretary for approving the visit and promised to work as a team for the development of the Council and towards raising the bar in the promotion of the ARISE Agenda.
