8.6KM EDIENE ABAK ROAD ENDING AT PEACOCK PAINT, IKOT EKAN FLAGGED-OFF FOR CONSTRUCTION
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and Non-Academic staff Union of Universities had received an invitation for a dialogue from the federal government yesterday. This was disclosed to newsmen by the national president, SSANU Muhammed Ibrahim.
Though, the time for this meeting is yet to be disclosed but it's scheduled for today 20th March, 2024.
Accordingly, the federal government considered it pertinent to increase the velocity of action as their industrial action has culminated into a total shut down of activities in the University campuses.
Recalled that these labour members embarked on a seven day warning strike resulting from the failure of president Tinubu to pay their four months salaries withheld by the past administration in 2021 via the "No Work, No Pay" policy.
And back home in Akwa-ibom, inorder to match the intentions into meticulous legacy resulting from the concern of government towards the people's primary needs. The governor of Akwa-ibom State H.E, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has flag-off the 8.6km Ediene Abak ending at Peacock Paint, Ikot Ekan for construction.
The flaff-off ceremony happened currently with the announcement of free food items to be distributed to the less privileged. Gov. Eno's food palliative programme via the Bulk Purchase Agency was designed initially for the less privileged to buy at a subsidised rate, but he declared that such idea has been annulled.
He also announced that the food intervention programme will be flagged-off next week Tuesday with launching of bulk purchase food voucher at the designated markets in the State.
Governor Eno expressed that his attention was drawn to Ediene Abak- Ikot Ekan Road when he received a text message from a student, clamouring about the poor condition of that road and it's relevance for reconstruction.
He enjoined the youths to eschew issues with the constructors while encouraging them to promoting peace.
