MANAGEMENT OF IBOM ICON TERMINATED BY STATE GOVERNMENT
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has placed three months ban on ministers, heads of agencies and other officials of the federal government from embarking on public funded international trip with effect from 1st of April, 2024. This was contained in a letter signed by his chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila and further addressed to the Secretary to the government of the federation,Mr. George Akume.
President Tinubu considered it imperative enacting this directive following the backlash at the 28th Conference of Parties in United Arab Emirates where 590 Nigerians attended.
Accordingly, this restriction will help to curtail the alarming rate of expenses from the federal government treasury and as well cause the officials to focus in delivering their functions effectively. Furthermore, any federal government officials intending to embark on a foreign trip that will be funded by the government must obtain an approval from the president atleast two weeks to the scheduled trip.
Recall that President Tinubu issued a directive in January to minimise the number of delegates moving with him to foreign trip - 20 while the local trip was 25 .
