Ibesikpo Asutan Lawmaker Commends Gov. Umo Eno for ₦500,000 Disbursement to Support Home Farmers

 


• Says It'll Strengthen Economic Growth in A' Ibom State



Hon. Pastor Ubong Attah, the Member Representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, has lauded Governor Umo Eno for his recent initiative to allocate ₦500,000 to 50 beneficiaries through the ARISE HOME FARMERS SCHEME, which was instituted by the governor to further boost agriculture and encourage the people to farm even at home.


This gesture, he said does not only showcases the governor's commitment to empowering local farmers and entrepreneurs but also signals a strategic move toward stimulating economic growth in Akwa Ibom State.


The ARISE HOME FARMERS CONTEST was crafted to bolster small-scale agriculture and entrepreneurship, injecting much-needed funds into sectors that are vital for the state's economic fabric. Pastor Attah articulated his belief that this financial support will enable beneficiaries to scale up their businesses, improve productivity, and generate new employment opportunities, thus creating a ripple effect of economic activity across the State.


As the House Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Rural Development, Pastor Attah stressed the importance of wise investment of the disbursed funds. He advised that this initiative is not merely a financial handout; but it is an opportunity for beneficiaries to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the broader economic landscape of Akwa Ibom. Attah stressed responsible resource management, reflecting a deeper understanding of sustainable development.                       


This disbursement, he said showcased Pastor Umo Eno as a Governor that is intentionally dedicated to the people and reinforced the confidence in his leadership, which is characterized by follow-through on his promises and a genuine desire to uplift the State.


At a recent event dubbed "ARISE HAPPY HOUR OF REWARDS - An Evening of Grants and Empowerment," Governor Eno took substantial steps to foster talent and creativity, disbursing a remarkable ₦550 million to Akwa Ibom indigenes who excel in various fields. Notable allocations included ₦25 million for the winners of the ARISE Home Farms Contest and ₦300 million directed at empowering 400 female youths under the Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme-3, alongside other prizes for competitive events.


During this gathering, Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration's commitment to entrepreneurship and food security, positioning Akwa Ibom as a prime destination for investment and innovation. His vision for the state encompasses not only immediate relief through monetary support but also a sustainable pathway toward economic resilience.


This initiative, the Governor said signifies a robust approach to economic empowerment in Akwa Ibom State, laying the groundwork for future prosperity while addressing immediate financial needs of the home farmers. He said his focus on agricultural sustainability and entrepreneurship is expected to yield long-term benefits for the state's economy.
